Chittagong-- - Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) recovered its land worth Tk 2 crore from illegal occupation in city’s Sadarghat area yesterday.

CPA demolished seven big establishments to reclaim the land, which were under illegal occupation for the last 30 years.

A section of influential people grabbed the land and constructed salt refinery, salt store, fishing company and engineering workshop there.

Some 200 port employees along with 65 policemen bulldozed the establishments, took control of the land and deployed 10 Ansars to protect it.

The CPA action came four days after a court order to evict the establishments and reclaim the land.
